HADLEY, Mass. -- Sophomore forward Nina Davenport was named NESCAC Women's Basketball Player of the Week on Monday by the New England Small College Athletic Conference, following her outstanding performance in Sunday's win over Williams. On Tuesday, Davenport added player of the week honors from the Maine Women's Basketball Coaches Association.
Davenport (Freeport, Maine) shot 6-of-10 from behind the three-point line en route to a season-high 26 points, leading the Bobcats to a 59-49 upset victory against the visiting Ephs. Davenport added a game-high 13 rebounds and a pair of blocked shots in the win, which allowed Bates to finish 4-6 in conference play and gain the seventh seed in Saturday's NESCAC Championship quarterfinals.
In Bates' 2-1 week, the 5-foot-11 Davenport averaged 16.7 points, 11.7 rebounds, 1.7 steals and 1.0 blocks per game. She finishes the regular season ranked fourth in the NESCAC in scoring average (16.0 points) and ninth in rebounding (7.4).
Making its first appearance in the NESCAC playoffs since 2013, Bates plays at second-seeded Amherst this Saturday at 2pm.
These are Davenport's first career NESCAC and MWBCA Player of the Week awards; Bates' last previous winner of both awards was Molly Brown '15 on Jan. 5, 2015.
