Dannis named an All-American and an ECAC All-Star

Jenna Dannis '12 has picked up All-America, All-NESCAC, All-Region and All-ECAC honors for the 2010 season.

LEWISTON, Maine -- Bates sophomore midfielder Jenna Dannis (Milford, N.H.) pocketed two more postseason awards on Tuesday, including the first All-America laurels of her career.

Dannis was named a Division III Third Team All-American by womenslacrosse.com. The website also named first-year defender Linnea Fulton (Bristol, R.I.) to its All-Rookie Team.

Dannis was also named to the 2010 ECAC Division III New England Women's Lacrosse All-Stars Second Team on Tuesday by the Eastern College Athletic Conference.

Dannis, the 14th All-American in team history and the first since Molly Wagner in 2007, has now collected four postseason honors this year. She was an IWLCA Pilgrim Region First Team honoree last week, and a First Team All-NESCAC selection the week before. Dannis was also an IWLCA Second Team All-Region selection as a rookie last season.

Dannis is the rare midfielder who has proven capable of making a big difference at both ends of the field. She led the team in ground balls (35), draw controls (51) and caused turnovers (23), while ranking second on the team in scoring with 25 goals and four assists. She tied for first in the NESCAC in draw controls per game (3.40), and ranked ninth in the conference in ground balls per game (2.27) and seventh in caused turnovers per game (1.60). Dannis also scored 11 free-position goals on the year, ranking fifth in the league in FPS goals per game (0.73).

It is the second postseason honor for Fulton, who was chosen for IWLCA Pilgrim Region Second Team honors last week. Fulton emerged this year as the Bobcats' best low defender and an excellent one-on-one defender with good instincts. She finished the season ranked second on the team in ground balls with 23, and was third on the team in both draw controls (14) and caused turnovers (16).

A third Bobcat, sophomore attacker Joan O'Neill (Westwood, Mass.), has also pocketed All-NESCAC Second Team and IWLCA All-Region First Team awards in the past two weeks.
