HADLEY, Mass. -- Bates junior midfielder Wally Pierce received All-NESCAC honors on Wednesday, as the New England Small College Athletic Conference announced its Women's Lacrosse All-Conference Teams.
Pierce (Weston, Mass.) this year ascended to the ranks of the finest two-way midfielders in the top conference in Division III women's lacrosse. She played an exceptional season at both ends of the field, leading Bates in most major statistical categories: goals (26), points (32), draw controls (50), ground balls (40) and caused turnovers (22). Pierce led the NESCAC in draw controls per game (3.33), while also ranking second in ground balls per game (2.67) and ninth in caused turnovers per game (1.47).
The Bobcats made the eight-team field of the NESCAC Women's Lacrosse Championship for the fifth year in a row, finishing with a 7-8 overall record.
Just yesterday, Pierce received First Team All-Region honors from the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association, her second year in a row as an all-region honoree.
