HADLEY, Mass. -- Bates junior forward Alix Vandeventer was named the NESCAC Women's Soccer Co-Player of the Week, announced Monday by the New England Small College Athletic Conference.
Vandeventer (North Attleboro, Mass.) scored two goals, both game-winners, in a 2-0 week for Bates. Vandeventer volleyed in Tina Tobin's (Lowell, Mass.) long cross for the game-winning goal with 7:47 left in regulation time as the Bobcats upset No. 9 nationally ranked Williams 2-1 on Saturday, their first win over the Ephs since 2006. The victory evened Bates' record to 4-4-1 overall and 2-3-1 in NESCAC play. She also scored Bates' first goal on another Tobin assist in a 3-0 win over Southern Maine on Tuesday. All three of Vandeventer's team-high three goals this season are game-winners.
Bates' last NESCAC Player of the Week was now-junior goalkeeper Annie Burns (Topsfield, Mass.), who won the award on Sept. 29, 2009.
Bates women's soccer plays host to UMaine-Farmington on Wednesday at 3:30 p.m., then NESCAC rival Wesleyan on Saturday at 2 p.m. Both games will be viewable by live video streaming at First Team Broadcasting's Bates website.
