Women's squash finishes fourth in NESCAC Championship

HARTFORD, Conn. -- The Bates women's squash team settled for fourth place in the conference on Sunday, after a 6-3 loss to Williams in the third-place match of the 2011 NESCAC Women's Squash Championship.

Bates (12-10) received a 3-0 win at the No. 1 position on the ladder from sophomore Cheri-Ann Parris (St. Philip, Barbados) over Courtney Bogle. First-year Rakey Drammeh (New York, N.Y.) defeated Eliana Saltzman at No. 7, and senior Anna Hogeland (Williamstown, Mass.) completed a 3-0 weekend individually with a 3-0 win over Carolyn Kaemmer at No. 8. Hogeland was Bates' lone scorer in yesterday's 8-1 loss to Trinity in the semifinals.

Williams (11-10), the No. 2 seed in the tournament, had defeated fifth-seeded Bates 7-2 on the Ephs' home court on Jan. 9.

The Bobcats have one match left in their regular season, Wednesday at 6 p.m. at Colby, before the College Squash Association Team Championships take place Feb. 18-20 at Princeton.
