Parris '13 helps Barbados win Caribbean team championship

GRAND CAYMAN, Cayman Islands -- Bates women's squash standout Cheri-Ann Parris '13 played a big part in the outstanding performance put on by the Barbados national squash team, helping her home country win the Carribean championships with a 5-0 victory over the Cayman Islands in the women's team final.

In the match's No. 2 singles showdown (out of five individual matches), Parris (St. Philip, Barbados) defeated Ailison Stobridge of the Cayman Islands in three out of four games, winning 11-7, 5-11, 11-9, 13-11.

Parris also finished fourth in the women's individual finals draw after her Barbadian teammate, Karen Meakins, defeated her in the semifinals.

Parris, Bates' No. 1 player for two years running, is a two-time NESCAC First Team All-Conference selection and the 2010 NESCAC Rookie of the Year.
