No. 3 Trinity stays unbeaten against women's squash

HARTFORD, Conn. -- The No. 13 nationally ranked Bates women's squash team accepted its first in-conference loss at perennial NESCAC champion Trinity on Saturday, with the No. 3 nationally ranked Bantams coasting to a 9-0 win, winning each set on the afternoon and rising to 7-0 overall, 4-0 in NESCAC play.

Bates (3-4, 2-1 NESCAC) competed for the third straight match without the services of its injured top player, sophomore All-American Nessrine Ariffin (Penang, Malaysia) -- in her stead at the No. 1 position, senior captain Cheri-Ann Parris (St. Philip, Barbados) accepted an 11-4, 11-8, 11-2 loss to Trinity's Kanzy El Defrawy. Also winning 14 games in losing bids for the Bobcats were first-year Lauren Williams (Buluwayo, Zimbabwe) and junior Rakey Drammeh (New York, N.Y.) at No. 5 and No. 6, respectively.

Bates plays at another NESCAC rival, No. 10 Williams, on Sunday at 1pm.
