Women's squash falls at top-ranked Harvard

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. -- The Bates women's squash team took on the top-ranked team in the country on Wednesday at Harvard, where the host Crimson came away with a 9-0 win.

Missing from action was Bates' No. 1 player, sophomore All-American Nessrine Ariffin (Penang, Malaysia), but the Bobcats acquitted themselves well despite winning no sets in the match. Winning the most games among the Bobcats (2-3) was junior Rakey Drammeh (New York, N.Y.), who battled to an 11-5, 11-6, 11-2 loss against Harvard's Isabelle Dowling at the No. 6 position. First-year Lauren Williams (Bulawayo, Zimbabwe) and senior Ali Bragg (Darien, Conn.) won 11 games at the fourth and seventh spots in the lineup, respectively.

Bates plays host to Bowdoin on Friday, Jan. 11 at 6pm (Video) on Senior Night for co-captains Bragg and Cheri-Ann Parris (St. Philip, Barbados).
