Women's squash turns away Mules in 8-1 victory

WATERVILLE, Maine -- Bates senior Cheri-Ann Parris (St. Philip, Barbados) won at the first position to lead the 15th-ranked Bates women's squash team to an 8-1 win over 22nd-ranked Colby on Wednesday night at the Dunaway Courts.

Sophomores Myriam Kelly (Bronx, N.Y.) and Chloe Mitchell (Chatham, N.J.) both had 3-1 wins at the second and third spots for the Bobcats, who finish the regular season with a 6-12 record while Colby drops to 10-11.

Bates won by 3-0 scores at positions 4 through 8, with the play of (in order) sophomore Lesea Bourke (Greenwich, Conn.), first-year Lauren Williams (Bulawayo, Zimbabwe), senior Ali Bragg (Darien, Conn.), junior Rakey Drammeh (New York, N.Y.) and junior Samantha Matos (New York, N.Y.).

Lily Greenberg played in her final home match for the Mules and their only point at the ninth position.

The inaugural Division III Invitational Tournament scheduled for this weekend at Bowdoin has been cancelled, so Bates next competes at College Squash Association Team Nationals Feb. 15-17 at Yale.
