MIT defeats women's tennis team at Merrill

LEWISTON, Maine -- The Massachusetts Institute of Technology defeated Bates College 9-0 in women's tennis on Saturday at the Merrill Indoor Gymnasium, dropping the host Bobcats to 1-2 this year. Playing in its first match of the spring season, MIT raised its record to 9-3.



The Bobcats took four of six singles matches to three sets: junior Caryn Benisch (Huntington, N.Y.) at No. 2, senior Mallika Raghavan (Chappaqua, N.Y.), sophomore Jean Gulliver (Falmouth, Maine) and first-year Eliza Kano-Bower (Wayland, Mass.).

Bates next plays at Middlebury next Saturday, March 8 at 8:30 a.m.
