Anderson, Russell win sets in loss at No. 10 Bowdoin

BRUNSWICK, Maine -- No. 10 nationally ranked Bowdoin was too strong for the No. 30 Bates women's tennis team, as the host Polar Bears took a 9-0 NESCAC win on Thursday.

Highlights for Bates included set wins in at both second singles and sixth singles. Senior Meg Anderson (Cohasset, Mass.) fell in an epic tiebreaker, 6-1, 6-7, (13-11), to Kate Winingham at No. 2 singles, and Hannah Hoerner outlasted Bates junior Nicole Russell (Boca Raton, Fla.) at No. 6.

Bowdoin, ranked fourth in the Northeast, rose to 10-6, 5-2 NESCAC.

Bates (10-8, 3-3 NESCAC), ranked 12th in the Northeast, plays host to Williams on Saturdy at 4pm in the team's regular-season finale.
