Holmes stays hot in loss to No. 20 Tufts

LEWISTON, Maine -- The No. 28 nationally ranked fell 8-1 to a hot team in No. 20 Tufts on Saturday evening at the Wallach Tennis Center.

The Bobcats' lone win came at second singles, where senior captain Jacqui Holmes (Harvard, Mass.) continued her hot play of late, surging back from dropping the first set 6-0 to win the second set in a tie-breaker, then prevailed 10-8 in a third-set super tie-breaker.

Bates, who hosts Wesleyan Sunday at 2pm (Video) falls to 7-10 and 3-5. With the win, Tufts ends its regular-season with records of 8-8 overall and 5-4 in NESCAC.
