Women's track athletes perform well at MIT Invitational

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. -- The Bates College women's track and field team had a number of athletes qualify for regional championship meets on Saturday at the non-scoring MIT Coed Track and Field Invitational.

Sophomore Allie Goldstein (Needham, Mass.) finished second in the 3,000-meter run in 10:50.80, a time that qualifies her to compete in the New England Division III Indoor Championships next Saturday and for the ECAC Championships in March.

Senior Meredith Anderson (Swampscott, Mass.) long jumped 15-7.50 for fourth place, qualifying for New Englands.

Sophomore Jen Marino (Methuen, Mass.) ran the 400-meter dash in 1:03.83, finishing fifth and qualifying her for New Englands.

First-year Jenna Ligor (Denmark, Maine) qualified for New Englands in the 800, finishing second in 2:23.45.

Other highlights of the meet included junior Amy Rosania (Rye Beach, N.H.) winning the 1,000-meter run with a time of 3:14.66 and first-year Ngoc Pham (Sharon, Mass.) coming in second in the 5,000 (19:41.11).

Bates competes at the New England Division III Women's Indoor Championships next Saturday at the University of Southern Maine.
