Women's track and field competes at MIT Invitational





CAMBRIDGE, Mass. -- Members of the Bates College women's track and field team competed Saturday at the non-scoring MIT Invitational, with several athletes recording impressive marks in preparation for next weekend's New England Division III Indoor Championships.

Among the highlights for the Bobcats were senior Allie Goldstein (Needham, Mass.) placing second out of 12 runners in the 5,000 meters with a time of 19:02.57; junior Vantiel Elizabeth Duncan (Topsham, Maine) placing second out of 39 in the shot put, at 41-08.00; senior Jen Marino (Methuen, Mass.) placing third out of 16 in the triple jump in 35-11.50; junior Katie Bash (Wallingford, Pa.) placing fifth out of 11 runners in the 1,000 meters with a time of 3:10.36; and sophomore Sara Ellen Godek (Gilford, N.H.) placing sixth out of 30 competitors in the weight throw, at 46-08.00.

Bates competes at New Englands Feb. 20-21 at Bowdoin College.
