Five from women's track and field win All-NESCAC honors

HADLEY, Mass. -- Five members of the Bates women's track and field team were named to the NESCAC All-Conference team on Tuesday, following top-three performances at Saturday's NESCAC Track and Field Championships at Wesleyan, including two multiple award winners.

Senior Dana Lindauer (Needham, Mass.) earned three of the awards, while senior Sara Ellen Godek (Gilford, N.H.) won two.

Lindauer won one of her all-conference honors as a member of Bates' second-place 4x400-meter relay team, which broke the Bates record with a time of 3:57.12, 6.49 seconds ahead of third-place Williams. Lindauer ran the anchor leg for the squad, which also comprised junior Liz Carleton (Westborough, Mass.), sophomore Ansley Flanagan (Roxbury, Conn.) and first-year Jenny Fucillo (Winthrop, Mass.). It is the second career All-NESCAC honor for Flanagan, who was also on Bates' third-place 4x400 relay team at last year's NESCACs, as was Lindauer.

Lindauer won the conference title in the 400-meter dash and broke her own team mark in the process, finishing in 57.14 seconds. She also finished second in the 200 meters, at 25.93 seconds, .29 seconds ahead of third-place Annie Lynch of Williams. She will finish her career at Bates with five NESCAC All-Conference honors.

Godek earned the third and fourth All-NESCAC honors of her career on Saturday, including her first conference title in the hammer throw, which she claimed with a personal-best mark of 161-5. Godek also took third place in the shot put (39-10.75).
