Sara Ellen Godek '11

HADLEY, Mass. -- Bates senior Sara Ellen Godek earned NESCAC Field Performer of the Week honors in NESCAC Women's Track & Field, announced Monday by the New England Small College Athletic Conference. It is the first such honor in Godek's standout career.

Godek (Gilford, N.H.) and fellow senior captain Dana Lindauer (Needham, Mass.) both won a pair of events to lead the Bates women's track and field team to a strong outdoor season-opening performance in a non-scoring dual meet at Division I Maine on Sunday.

Godek won the shot put handily at 40-02.75, as well as the hammer throw at 152-07. Godek was also second in the discus, at 100-11. Lindauer won the 100- and 200-meter dashes at the meet.

Bates hosts a three-team meet at the Russell Street Track against Colby and MIT on Saturday, April 9, at 12 p.m.
