Five Bobcats named to USTFCCCA women's All-Academic squad








NEW ORLEANS -- Five members of Bates College's 2011 women's outdoor track and field team were named to the USTFCCCA Division III All-Academic Track & Field team, announced Wednesday by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.

Winning the All-Academic nod for Bates, by virtue of maintaining a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.30 and by qualifying for the NCAA Division III Track & Field Championships, were Bud Arens '13 (Weymouth, Mass.), Lizzie Carleton '12 (Westborough, Mass.), Jenny Fucillo '14 (Winthrop, Mass.), Sara Ellen Godek '11 (Gilford, N.H.) and Dana Lindauer '11 (Needham, Mass.). Arens qualified for and competed at NCAAs in the 800 meters, finishing 22nd, while Lindauer qualified for and competed in the 400 meters, finishing 13th. Godek was an NCAA provisional qualifier in the hammer throw, as were Arens, Carleton, Fucillo and Lindauer in the 4x400 relay.

The five Bobcats were among 328 All-Academic selections nationwide, including 37 from NESCAC institutions.
