GORHAM, Maine -- Four event wins highlighted the Bates women's track and field team's marks at Saturday's USM Invitational, where the Bobcats finished third among 11 competing teams.
Competing with a partial squad following Friday night's BU Terrier Classic, Bates scored 118 points, well ahead of fourth-place smith (63) and trailing first-place Springfield (165.5) and runner-up USM (140.5).
Bates swept the top five places in the mile, led by junior Lindsay Cullen's winning time of 5:20.92. Sophomore Meg Ogilvie (Hopedale, Mass.), sophomore Devin Tatro (Haverhill, Mass.), sophomore Tara Notarianni (Johnston, R.I.) and first-year Erica Gagnon (Weymouth, Mass.), followed Cullen, respectively.
Senior captain Tina Tobin (Lowell, Mass.) won the 55-meter hurdles in 8.76 seconds, following a preliminary time of 8.74.
Fellow senior captain Lizzie Carleton (Westborough, Mass.) captured first place in the 200-meter dash, in 27.27 seconds.
Junior Amanda Solch (Mountain Lakes, N.J.) won the 3,000 meters, in 10:53.46.
Sophomore Abby Alexander (Harvard, Mass.) took second place out of 12 runners in the 600 meters, at 1:45.34.
Alexander, Carleton, junior Ansley Flanagan (Roxbury, Conn.) and Tobin took second place in the 4x400 relay, in 4:14.84.
Bates also took second place in the 4x800 relay at 10:26.74, run by Ogilvie, Cullen, sophomore Mira Carey-Hatch (Laconia, N.H.) and Tatro.
Bates will host the Maine Women’s Indoor Track & Field Championships on Friday, Feb. 3, at 6pm in Merrill Gymnasium.
