HADLEY, Mass. -- Bates junior Kallie Nixon (Medfield, Mass.) was formally recognized with two awards and sophomore Colby Gail (Topsham, Maine) won another as the New England Small College Athletic Conference officially announced its All-Conference Track & Field Teams on Tuesday.
The top three finishers in each event during the NESCAC Championship meet, held on Saturday at Tufts, receive All-Conference recognition.
Gail was recognized after winning the conference title in the high jump. Gail was the only high jumper to clear the bar at 5 feet and 5 inches, setting a Bates record in the process. It is her second All-NESCAC honor, after tying for third place in the high jump a year ago. Gail's effort put her at 21st in nationwide Division III rankings.
Nixon earned her second and third career All-NESCAC honors, by finishing second in both the 3,000-meter steeplechase (11:08.76), and in the 800 meters, at (2:16.14). Nixon ranks 38th in Division III in the 800 and 13th in the steeple, based on her time of 11:05.23 at MIT on April 13.
