GENEVA, Ohio -- The Bates women's track and field team will have a full slate of six events on the third and final day of the NCAA Division III Track & Field Championships, following Friday's performances by senior Allison Hill in the 100-meter hurdles and sophomore Ayden Eickhoff in the 800 meters.
Hill (Brunswick, Maine) won the first of three preliminary heats in the 100 hurdles with a time of 14.20, the third fastest time of her career, automatically advancing to Saturday's finals. Hill's time was the third fastest in the field of 22 competitors, and the top nine in trials will race in the final on Saturday at 12:50pm.
Eickhoff (Corvallis, Mont.) chopped 0.39 seconds off of her own team record in the 800, finishing second in her heat with a time of 2:10.78. Her time was the sixth fastest out of 22, five places better than her 11th seeding in the event. She and the other eight qualifiers run in the finals Saturday at 1:50pm.
All six women in Bates' contingent at nationals, the largest in program history, will compete on Saturday, as the Bobcats made the finals in four out of five events over the meet's first two days. Bates will be looking for points from top-eight performances from senior Jessica Wilson (Cumberland, Maine) in both the 1,500 meters and 5,000 meters, junior Sally Ceesay (Bronx, N.Y.) in the triple jump, Hill in the 100 hurdles, Eickhoff in the 800, and Hill, first-year Paige Rabb (Stamford, Conn.), Eickhoff and senior Claire Markonic (Millerton, N.Y.) in the 4x400 relay.
