Williams downs Bates volleyball team in first NESCAC match

BRUNSWICK, Maine -- Williams College swept the Bates volleyball team in straight games Friday night in the Bobcats' first NESCAC match of the season, at a NESCAC weekend at Bowdoin College.

The Ephs (5-0, 2-0 NESCAC) won by 30-16, 30-18, 30-21 scores.

First-year Liz Leberman (Concord, N.H.) led the Bobcats (4-2, 0-1 NESCAC) in kills with five, to go with 11 digs. Senior Katie Graeff (Chevy Chase, Md.) had a team-high 13 digs, and first-year Brit Johnston (Winter Park, Colo.) added 10 digs.

Junior Jenn Linton (Redding, Conn.) and sophomore Beth Billington (St. Paul, Minn.) each had four kills.

Bates continues play at Bowdoin on Saturday, with a match against Hamilton at 11 a.m. followed by a meeting against Middlebury at 4 p.m.
