LEWISTON, Maine -- The Bates College volleyball team went 1-1 at the Crabtree Invitational Saturday at Eastern Connecticut State University, finishing the tournament with a 2-2 record after a 3-0 win over Bridgewater State and a 3-0 loss to Johnson & Wales.
Bates (11-12) finished fourth out of five teams in the tournament, while junior outside hitter Tess Dokus (Salem, Conn.) earned all-tournament honors.
Dokus had a team-high 13 kills with a blistering .619 attack percentage in the Bobcats’ 25-23, 25-18, 25-21 win over Bridgewater State. Junior Liz Leberman (Concord, N.H.) chimed in with 9 kills and a .350 attack percentage, while making only 2 reception errors out of 16 attempts. Senior Beth Billington (St. Paul, Minn.) had 6 kills and 6 blocks, while first-year Grace Haessler (Portland, Ore.) handed out 35 assists.
Dokus had 9 kills with a .400 attack percentage in the 26-24, 25-9, 25-21 loss to Johnson & Wales, while Haessler had 9 digs and 24 assists and junior Kira Kramlich (San Francisco, Calif.) made a team-high 15 digs.
Bates next plays at NESCAC rival Trinity College on Friday, Oct. 17 at 6 p.m.
