Volleyball team wins 3-0 at UMaine-Farmington

FARMINGTON, Maine -- The Bates College volleyball team notched a 3-0 (25-17, 25-10, 25-15) non-conference victory Tuesday night at UMaine-Farmington's Dearborn Gymnasium.

Junior Liz Leberman (Concord, N.H.) and first-year Olivia Schow (Costa Mesa, Calif.) each collected six kills for Bates, with junior Avery Masters (Mill Valley, Calif.) supplying five kills and three blocks, first-year Chrissy Gee (San Francisco, Calif.) adding five kills and three service aces and senior Beth Billington (St. Paul, Minn.) blocking four attacks. First-year setter Grace Haessler (Portland, Ore.) doled out 23 assists to go with five aces and three blocks in the win.

Jenna Rowan (Kittery, Maine) and Caitlin Flaherty (Pembroke, Mass.) each made 13 digs for the Beavers, with Rowan adding three service aces. Shannon Mitchell (Portsmouth, N.H.) and Emily Beebe (Bristol, R.I.) each had three kills.

The Bobcats improved to 3-4 and are slated to host Tufts University in their first NESCAC conference match on Friday at . The Beavers fell to 1-5 and are off until next Wednesday when they are scheduled to play host to St. Joseph's.
