Dokus, Haessler lead volleyball team at Bowdoin



BRUNSWICK, Maine -- After the Bates and Bowdoin volleyball teams split a pair of tighly-matched sets to open the contest, Bowdoin took control over the final two to clinch a 3-1 (25-20, 23-25, 25-11, 25-18) NESCAC win on Saturday.

Bowdoin improves to 13-6 (3-2 NESCAC) while the Bobcats fall to 9-6 (0-6 NESCAC). The teams split their two regular-season meetings, and Bates is now 3-1 against CBB opponents.

Senior Tess Dokus (Fairport, N.Y.) had a team-high nine kills, while sophomore setter Grace Haessler (Portland, Ore.) had 27 assists and 10 digs. First-year Nicole Russell (Boca Raton, Fla.) had 20 digs and one ace.

Bates will play in the Wellesley Quad next weekend, with matches against SUNY New Paltz, Endicott and Bridgewater State.
