Volleyball beats Colby-Sawyer for first win, 3-0

BRUNSWICK, Maine -- The Bates volleyball team handed first-year head coach Margo Linton her first win with the Bobcats, highlighting a 1-1 concluding day of the Mid Coast Classic. The Bobcats fell to Bowdoin by a 3-0 score (25-19, 25-11, 25-10) in a non-conference match on Saturday morning, before they convincingly defeated Colby-Sawyer 3-0 (25-19, 25-16, 25-16).

First-year outside hitter Emma Getsinger (Darien, Conn.) was named to the All-Tournament team as Bates went 1-2 over the two-day tournament, which included Friday night's 3-1 loss to Rivier. Getsinger led Bates' attack with eight kills, an attack percentage of .263 and three aces in the win over the Chargers (7-9).

Senior Chrissy Gee (San Francisco, Calif.) also had eight kills to go with two blocks, seven digs and two assists. Senior Olivia Schow (Costa Mesa, Calif.) added seven kills and three blocks, and junior Eliza Pyne (Atherton, Calif.) came up with six kills and three blocks. First-year Tess Walther (Santa Monica, Calif.) passed out 30 assists in the match.

Pyne posted a team-high six kills with an attack percentage of .333 in the Bowdoin match.

Bates next plays host to Colby in another non-conference match against a rival, Tuesday at 7 p.m. The match can be followed live via Video Webcast on First Team Broadcasting.
