FARMINGTON, Maine -- Bates attacked at a .222 percentage for the match, led by senior Eliza Pyne’s 13 kills on 23 attacks, and the Bobcats posted a 3-0 win over the University of Maine at Farmington Wednesday night at Dearborn Gymnasium. Set scores for were 25-13, 25-11, 25-19.
Pyne (Atherton, Calif.) hit .478 on the night for Bates (10-14), and also contributed one ace and two block assists to the Bobcat cause.
First-year middle blocker Mary Deneen (Windsor, Conn.) tacked on five kills with two block assists, while senior outside hitter Leah Abramson (Monument, Colo.) had three kills and served up five aces -- part of Bates’ tally of 20 service aces during the match. First-year libero Nicole Cueli (Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.) charted a team-high six aces to go with her five digs, while sophomore setter Miranda Shapiro (New York, N.Y.) counted four aces and finished with 17 assists.
UMaine-Farmington (5-17) was paced offensively by freshman outside hitter Julia Christie with seven kills, along with a team-high 10 digs and one ace. Sophomore opposite Jordan Hohman put away three kills for the Beavers, and also logged one ace.
Bates hosts Trinity in a NESCAC match on Friday at 8pm in Alumni Gym, part of Homecoming Weekend. The Bobcats finish the regular season with Saturday's home match against Amherst, starting at 2pm.
