Russell, Pyne, Schepel pace volleyball at Williams

WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. -- Williams College held off the Bates volleyball team 28-26 in the second set en route to a 3-0 (25-13, 28-26, 25-21) NESCAC victory over the on Friday night. Emily Barratta racked up 11 kills and Emily Doll added nine to lead the Ephs.

Catherine Egan posted six blocks for the Ephs (8-5, 3-1 NESCAC)), who totaled 12 team blocks.

Bates senior Nicole Russell (Boca Raton, Fla.) had 13 digs and a team-high eight kills for the Bobcats (7-7, 0-2 NESCAC). Senior Eliza Pyne (Atherton, Calif.) contributed seven kills with just one attack error. First-year Laryssa Schepel (Flemington, N.J.) had a match-high 16 digs and three aces, and first-year Kelsey Berry (Hollis, N.H.) had four kills and 10 digs. Sophomore Tess Walther (Santa Monica, Calif.) totaled 20 assists.

Bates plays another road NESCAC match tomorrow at 2pm at Middlebury.
