McClelland wins inaugural NESCAC cross country honor

HADLEY, Mass. -- Bates first-year cross country runner Megan McClelland won the first-ever NESCAC Women's Cross Country Performer of the Week award, the conference announced on Monday.


McClelland (Keene Valley, N.Y.) ran in her first-ever cross country race Saturday at the nine-team University of New England Invitational, and she paced the Bobcats over the 5-kilometer course with a time of 21:10, good for second place overall.

Bates claimed seven of the top 12 spots in the race to win handily, with 26 points to runner-up Endicott's 85 points.
