BOSTON -- The Bates College women's cross country team finished fourth out of 23 teams overall and second among Division III teams Saturday at the Codfish Bowl, held on the women's 5K course at Franklin Park.
Division I Stony Brook took first place, followed by non-collegiate Greater Boston TC, MIT and Bates. Division II Bentley rounded out the top five.
Junior Jen Mitton (Reisterstown, Md.) led the Bobcats by finishing 24th out of 207 runners, in a time of 19:43. First-year Alicia Fannon (Haverhill, Mass.) came next, in 29th at 19:50, followed by classmates Amanda Solch (Mountain Lakes, N.J.) in 32nd, Lindsay Cullen (Newburyport, Mass.) in 40th and senior Ngoc Pham (Sharon, Mass.) in 43rd. Sophomore Jenny Monsulick (Readfield, Maine) and junior Alex Alberto (Concord, Mass.) were 47th and 50th overall.
Bates takes a week off of competition before going to the Open New England Championships Oct. 10, also at Franklin Park.
