Women's cross country second in Division III at Codfish Bowl

BOSTON -- Led by junior Alicia Fannon, the Bates women's cross country team finished fourth among all college teams, and second among Division III squads, on Saturday at the Codfish Bowl at Franklin Park.

Bates scored 155 points to place fifth overall out of all 23 competing teams, and fourth out of 20 college teams. Division I Boston University took first place with 47 points, followed by the Greater Boston Track Club (50), Division II Stonehill (72) and Division III Tufts (101).

Out of 251 total competitors, Fannon (Haverhill, Mass.) placed 13th overall, recording her personal best time at Franklin Park's 5K course at 19:15. Fannon was fourth among all collegiate runners, and first in Division III.

First-year Sarah Fusco (Cheshire, Conn.) finished 39th overall for Bates at 20:11, followed by first-year Elena Jay (West Hartford, Conn.) in 41st at 20:15. Sophomore Kallie Nixon (Medfield, Mass.) was 48th at 20:25; rounding out Bates' scorers and displacers, junior Amanda Solch (Mountain Lakes, N.J.) in 20:40, sophomore Devin Tatro (Haverhill, Mass.) at 21:02 and sophomore Meg Ogilvie (Hopedale, Mass.) at 21:05.

The Bobcats will next compete on Oct. 8 amongst a strong field at the Hoffman Invitational, at St. Lawrence University in Canton, N.Y. Race time is 11 a.m.
